Scholarships for Individuals with Diabetes

Here are some scholarships opportunities specifically for individuals with type 1 diabetes include:

  • Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland (DAGC) Scholarship - Each year, DAGC offers a $1,000.00 scholarship to a current high school senior. The applicant must be a former camper who has “graduated” from Camp Ho Mita Koda. The scholarship is to be used towards the camper's college or trade school and will be restricted for that purpose. Deadline for application is December 12, 2008.
  • The Thomas J. Seefred Scholarship Fund - Its purpose is to award scholarships for college students between the ages of 18 and 25 who have Juvenile Diabetes and are pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited junior college, college, or university. Current high school students are not eligible. Preference will be given to qualified applicants from Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties.   • Lilly for Learning Diabetes Scholarship - Multiple scholarships are awarded to high school seniors and postsecondary students who have Type 1 Diabetes.   • Education for Children with Diabetes Foundation Scholarship Program - This $5,000 scholarship is available to incoming freshmen seeking a higher education at an accredited four year university, college, technical or trade school. This scholarship recognizes students who are actively involved in the diabetes community, who have high academic performance, who participate in community and/or extra curricular activities and who have demonstrated that they are successfully managing the challenges of living with diabetes.
  • Novo Nordisk Donnelly Awards - In association with World Team Tennis Charities, the awards provide college scholarships to young tennis players with Type 1 diabetes.
