Camp Staff

With more than 1 staff person for every 5 campers, each child receives lots of personal attention. Many of the staff also have diabetes so they are positive role models for the children, as well as friends, caregivers, and coaches.

Susan
Camp Director

Camp Ho Mita Koda is pleased to welcome Susan Woodford as our new Camp Director. A Solon resident, Susan brings over 20 years of camping experience to her new position at Camp Ho Mita Koda. She comes to us from Camp Watitoh in Becket, Massachusetts where she served as Head Counselor for 21 summers. In her position as Head Counselor she was responsible for supervising the summer staff, developing and facilitating the staff training, and overseeing the development of camp programming. In addition to her position at Camp Watitoh, she also served as Camp Director at Camp Zachor in Norfolk, Virginia.

Susan holds a Master of Arts in Biblical studies from Regent University in Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. She is currently employed at Ursuline College as head Softball Coach/Game Administrator. Previous positions she has held during the academic year include: Head Softball Coach, Co-Director of Intramural Programs, and Head Field Hockey Coach at Hiram College; Teacher/Head Softball Coach at Atlantic Christian Schools in Virginia; Field Hockey and Softball Coach at Washington and Jefferson College. She also worked as a Personal Trainer for several years. Susan is interested in using her sports background to expand opportunities for team sports at camp. She is particularly interested in incorporating softball, hockey, soccer, and lacrosse in the camp’s sports programming. In addition to sports, Susan is also committed to retaining many of the existing programs at camp as well as ensuring that beloved camp traditions continue.

Favorite Camp Memory: My last year as a camper; I had the greatest counselors ever! We filled a boy’s cabin with balloons as a prank. We had a lot of good times, as well as good memories and many inside jokes.

Favorite Camp Memory: Meeting my “twin”, Amy! Being in Amy’s cabin as a junior counselor was amazing. Another favorite memory is teaching my drama classes, it’s great to see kids so excited about acting!

I definitely suggest everyone get to experience a summer camp such as Camp Ho Mita Koda, it will be one of the best decisions you will ever make.

Kitchen Staff

There are five women who make up the kitchen staff. Pictured are: Elizabeth, Doris, and Josie. Those that are not pictured are: Tracy, MaryAnn, Erin M., and Hector, who is a former camper volunteering this summer in the kitchen. The kitchen staff’s duties are to prepare all the meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. MaryAnn creates the menus and Josie is the head cook. Matt, the camp dietician, also has interns that come to camp throughout the sessions to learn as well as to teach the campers proper nutrition.
